When this trip was announced, the most intriguing element was hiking in Patagonia, especially to the base of Torre de Paine. Having just returned from the trip, I can honestly say that it was a trip of a lifetime. The winery tours and lunches were exceptional. The classes in Mendoza were the finest I’ve ever experienced, with diverse and enthusiastic conversations for four hours each day. The traveling school throughout Patagonia seemed a bit pretentious or overly hyped; however, in practice, it worked fantastically. Every conversation from breakfast to good night was in Spanish. Yes, Patagonia and its mountains are unique. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries around the world, and I’ve never seen anything like Patagonia. We hiked in all areas of Torre de Paine from north to south and east to west – we saw and hiked it all. I would be remiss if I didn’t state that the Base del Torre de Paine hike was more spectacular than my wildest imagination – beyond compare! I’ve engaged in a good number of tours with well-known travel companies, but this tour was the complete package from the first day to the very last. If you have any doubts, cast them aside, jump quickly; this tour could also be your trip of a lifetime, as it was mine!

When I first received email from CGS about this trip, I felt “this is it! I am in!!”
I have always wanted to trip to Chile and Argentina. I also wanted to trip, speaking Spanish. Therefore, when I found out this trip, I was thrilled and full of joy.
I have joined Medical Spanish Immersion program from CGS in the past. However, I also wanted to improve general Spanish skill, especially conversation. Thus the class at Mendoza was perfect prior to Patagonia trip. It was a week course which was enough for me because my grammar was pretty good. However, I needed to “practice”. I was able to practice with the teacher and classmates plenty of time. Also we had afternoon activity every day at Mendoza.
Patagonia, my dream trip in my lifetime. I had wonderful time with spectacular landscaping and hotel services. It was superb. I can’t say more. Daily hiking with knowledgeable guides who were also very kind Spanish teachers for us was incredible.

I am so glad that I joined this immersion program.

When I first heard about this trip, it seemed like someone had designed my ideal trip – Spanish immersion, wine, hiking, Patagonia! Now I can say that this trip surpassed every expectation! The first week in Mendoza was full of wonderful Spanish classes with outstanding teachers, fun cultural experiences (mate class… I finally get it!), a wonderful host family, and learning about a city and region with a rich history and culture. The second week in the Torres del Paine park was truly incredible. The hotel is breathtaking and everywhere we went in the park offered new, phenomenal sights. The hiking was fantastic, and our guides were so passionate and knowledgeable about the area. They also did a great job of supporting our learning environment by modifying their Spanish (slower, simpler language) to help us comprehend as much as possible. I can’t recommend this trip highly enough!

Argentina and Chile—divided by the Andes, united by language and love for their countries. We experienced a full helping of that love from all the people we interacted with, starting with Leslie and Rory. The structured classroom setting in Mendoza allowed for improvement in conversation skills that were immediately put into use through the variety of excursions that were curated with great care and precision. Each country has a different “vibe” but there is a bond of love for their natural beauty and bounty of produce. They love to share it with guests, especially those trying to learn their language. Host family home in Argentina allowed me to truly experience life with them. Amazing hotel in Patagonia met every need and exceeded every expectation. This trip truly has it all!

The trip was great. Leslie and Rory are great about attending to detail and taking personal needs into acccount. I loved immersing myself in South American culture and food. Everything ws well organized and when something went awry, it was carefully addressed. Our luggage did not arrive in Mendoza when we did but Leslie took care of it for us. We got our luggage and all was fine. They were flexible with the itinerary. When the itinerary needed some tweaking, it got tweaked and was better. I had some special food needs and I felt very respected and supported in addressing them. For me, this was a great opportunity
